Engineering on the Nano-Scale
Edinburgh - 8th and 9th April 2008

About the Conference

Nanoengineering is already playing an increasing role in many industries, spurred by the needs of aerospace, automotive, bio-medical, optical and pharmaceutical companies, as well as those of its first main user, the microelectronics firms.

The foundations of nanoengineering lie in nanoscience. As our understanding of nano-scale scientific phenomena matures, it enables engineers to design, manufacture and use nano-scale devices for industrial applications.

Engineering systems-level approaches are also being adopted for the synthesis or fabrication of these devices and processes where the function of nano-scale components is central to overall performance.

Established and developing industrialized nations recognize the significance of nanoengineering in the advancement of their economic wellbeing. This conference reflects international engineering research and development in this rapidly moving discipline.

Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special edition of the IMechE Journal of Nanoengineering and Nanosystems.
