Walking Tours

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

A visit to Scotland’s capital would not be thorough without getting underneath the city’s skin! For a real delve into Edinburgh’s past, delegates may request group bookings through the congress organisers for a private evening tour into Mary Kings Close. These once hidden streets beneath the Old Town have since been unearthed giving visitors an insight into the city’s way of life from the early 1600s onwards.

Whisky & Cheese Tasting

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

Sample some of Scotland’s favourite and oldest exports at this private event. An introductory presentation will cover a brief history and various methods behind the production of whisky before a tasting of specially selected single malts. Compare a peated Islay to a Fine Oak finished Speyside.

This will be complimented by a selection of fine cheeses from the Scottish countryside.  All produce will be available to purchase as gifts from the event.

All delegates welcome. Tickets will be made available during registration.

17th Congress Official Dinner Party

Wednesday, 7 July 2010

The Official Dinner Party will be held at the Dynamic Earth science museum overlooking the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace (the Queen’s official Scottish residence). Opened in 1999, Dynamic Earth is a strikingly modern building set against the geological backdrop of Arthur’s Seat; a vast volcanic formation including the basalt cliffs of Salisbury Crags.

Opening with a wine reception and private access to the museum’s galleries, guests are encouraged to explore the various environments and exhibitions. A three-course meal will then be served in the upper Stratosphere (pictured), followed by speeches.

The evening will culminate with a traditional Scottish Ceilidh of celtic music and displays of highland dancing*. Open bar until 1am.
