About OLL

The University of Edinburgh's Office of Lifelong Learning is where the University reaches out to the wider community. It provides part-time and short courses in a wide variety of subjects during the day and in the evening.

Each year there are around 12,000 enrolments, from local people returning to learning, to professionals seeking to develop their skills.

Courses in the Continuing Personal Education section are designed for people who wish to study for reasons of interest and personal enrichment. Many can be studied for academic credit. There are generally no entrance requirements needed, and there are tailor-made courses for people new to adult learning.

The Continuing Professional Development section focuses on the improvement of knowledge and skills of personnel throughout their working lives. It offers a varied programme of short courses, evening talks, conferences and seminars.
