Oral Presentations

Each oral presentation is allocated 20 minutes, including time for questions.  The presentation itself should last for no more than 18 minutes.

A laptop, dataprojector and screen will be available for all oral presentations.  If you have any further audio visual requirements please email the Conference Secretariat by 3 June. 

Posters

Your poster size and format should be as follows:

  • A0 size ie max width 841 mm by max height 1189 mm
  • Portrait style

Fixing material will be provided. 

There are two poster sessions. A link to a list of the posters appearing in each session is available from the Programme page.

Poster Prizes

We are pleased to announce two poster prizes sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institution of Chemical Engineers. One prize will be awarded for the Best Poster as judged by the COPS VIII Scientific Committee. The second prize will be awarded to the Best Poster as judged by the Conference as a whole. Recipients of these prizes will be announced and certificates awarded at the conference barbeque which will take place at 1700 on Friday 13 June.

Instructions for the submission of papers

Instructions for the preparation and submission of papers for the above conference.

The publication process is as follows:

1.         The author prepares a camera-ready paper using the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) instructions.  The maximum number of pages is 8. Click here to download RSC instructions.

2.         The author submits the paper using the RSC template, either

a.         In person, on arrival at the conference by submitting two paper copies
or
b.         Electronically, by email as a pdf or word file, to cops8@ed.ac.uk no later than Monday 9 June 1000 hours (GMT)

3.         The scientific committee arranges the review of the papers during the conference. If you are a reviewer you can download the referee report as a pdf file or word document at the top of this page. All referee reports should be returned to the Conference Secretariat by 4 July.

4.         The reviewers’ comments and the editor’s decision are sent to the author early July.

5.         If the paper has been accepted with changes, the author makes the required changes and returns two camera-ready copies of the paper to the Conference Secretariat by 14 July.

Only papers presented at the conference may be submitted for publication in the Conference Proceedings.

Copyright declaration

The Royal Society of Chemistry require all authors to sign a copyright declaration form giving permission to the RSC to reproduce the paper in the Proceedings and confirming that all material used is free of copyright restrictions. This form can be downloaded here ahead of the conference, or alternatively copies will be available for signature on arrival at the conference.
